Information provided in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister

On the lines of Jungle Safari built in Naya Raipur, another jungle
safari is being developed at an accelerated pace in Mohrenga village
near Kharora-Tilda Road, nearly 40 kms away from capital city Raipur.
Forest Department is developing it only for viewing of nature's
aesthetic beauty; people will be able to observe biodiversity and
experience the healing touch of nature in this nature safari. Today
Department Officials informed that this nature safari will be bigger in
area than jungle safari. Naya Raipur's Jungle Safari is spread over 800
acres, whereas the nature safari is taking shape on the area of 580
hectares i.e. 1450 acres.
In
the meeting held at Mantralaya yesterday regarding preparations of
state-wide Hariyar Chhattisgarh Campaign, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh
praised the Forest Department's nature safari project in Mohrenga. He
directed the officials to develop this nature safari in the best
possible manner and project its features at national-level. He directed
the officials to create special action plan for giving this nature
safari a national-level identity. Chief Minister said- This year in
monsoon, saplings of trees that attract birds and butterflies should be
planted in maximum number, under plantation programmes, in all the
districts of state. In the meeting, Forest Department Officials informed
that as per the vision of Chief Minister, nature safari is being built
in Mohrenga, 3 kms away from Kharora, in a way that it may become home
to birds. Wild animals such as chital, wild bore and rabbit have already
arrived in the nature safari. Forest Department had taken up the nature
safari project in year 2011. Intensive plantation has been done in this
area, which is favourable for the environment. Water source is also
being developed here for wild animals.
In
the meeting, Forest Minister Mr. Mahesh Gagda, Chief Secretary Mr.
Vivek Dhand, Panchayat and Rural Development Additional Chief Secretary
Mr. MK Raut, Additional Chief Secretary Commerce and Industry Department
Mr. N Baijendra Kumar, Planning and Statistics Department Additional
Chief Secretary Mr. Sunil Kujur, Principal Secretary Forest Department
Mr. RP Mandal, Principal Secretary Housing and Environment Department
Mr. Aman Kumar Singh, secretaries and senior officials of various
department and representatives of industrial organizations were also
present. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Mr. RK Tamta and Mr.
Mudit Singh, Mr. Jiten Kumar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of
Forest Mr. Vikas, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest CAMPA
Mr. JASC Rao, Secretary Forest Mr. Atul Shula, and Chief Forest
Conservators of all the circles attended the meeting yesterday.
Presiding
over the meeting, Chief Minister gave instructions to earmark lands in
urban and rural areas and develop oxyzone in minimum 10-12 hectares by
planting maximum number of plants. Dr Singh said that every oxyzone
should include saplings of bamboo, naseberry, jackfruit, almond, amla,
berry, mango, pipal, banyan, etc. He said- renewal of the industries
that have not done plantation in one-third area as per the rules, should
be done only after they ensure plantation as per the rules. Chief
Minister said that to promote plantation, an award scheme was started in
year 2017 for industries and government department. Under this scheme,
the industries making best contribution in plantation work are awarded
medals. This medal is awarded to industries in private sectors and
public sectors. Separate category of medals is there for government
departments.
He
said- intensive plantation should be done on roadside and saplings
should be planted in unused land of houses well. Plantation of saplings
in the name of daughters and dear ones should be encouraged. Dr Singh
directed the officials to upload the photos of the plantation programmes
organized under this campaign on social media (facebook and whatsapp),
so that the progress of the implementation could be reviewed before the
campaign of upcoming year. Chief Minister said that third party social
audit of the last year's plantation work should be done. In every five
hectares of plantation area, a solar pump should be installed for
irrigating the planted saplings. Dr Raman Singh also gave instructions
to develop a hi-tech nursery in all five revenue divisions- Raipur,
Durg, Bilaspur, Bastar and Sarguja, where minimum one crore saplings of
local species should be produced. He said- in these nurseries, saplings
of high quality should be produced in large number so as to meet the
local requirements as well as to distribute these saplings to other
states. Forest officials should be regularly trained in modern
techniques of plantation. GPS survey of every plantation area should be
done and satellite imagery should be obtained by making KML file. For
this, dates in every three months should be fixed for obtaining
satellite imagery.
