Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today greeted the citizens of the State on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra. In a message issued here he mentioned that Bhagwan Jagannath presiding deity of Orissa's Puri is a symbol of hoary cultural history, national unity and communal harmony. Utkal culture is clearly visible in the border districts of Chhattisgarh. Dr. Raman Singh said that Rath Yatra is celebrated with customary gaiety and enthusiasm in the villages and towns of our State. According to historians Rath Yatra is being celebrated in Jagdalpur (Bastar) for the past 600 years and in the capital for the past 500 years. Dr. Raman Singh sought the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Balbhadra and Subhadra for peace and prosperity in the entire country and world and bountiful rains in the monsoon season.
