Agriculture Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal has appealed farmers, who
are not the beneficiaries of loan scheme, to avail Prime Minister Crop
Insurance Scheme. He said in the appeal he issued today that non-indebted
farmers, taking the scheduled crops, may voluntarily avail this insurance
scheme by producing necessary documents.
Mr. Agrawal
said that after getting approval from Central Government, Chhattisgarh
Government has started the implementation of Prime Minister Crop Insurance
Scheme in all the districts of state from kharif season 2017. He told that the
farmers availing agricultural loan scheme get automatically enrolled for this
scheme. This year, State Government has set the target of including nearly
three lakh non-indebted under this insurance scheme. For this, each rural
agriculture expansion officer has been given the target of associating minimum
100 non-indebted farmers the scheme. There are total three thousand rural
agriculture expansion officers are working in the state.
Mr. Agrawal
informed that paddy (irrigated) and paddy (non-irrigated) have been enlisted
under the scheme as main crop, while other crops such as corn, soyabean,
peanut, lentils, moong and urad have also been included under the insurance
cover. Gram Panchayats have been made the unit for this insurance scheme, which
can be availed by indebted, non-indebted, land-owner other farmers.
Non-indebted farmers, who are producing the enlisted crop, may voluntarily also
avail this scheme if interested by producing the mandatory documents.
