Raipur : Chhattisgarh exploring new dimensions of urban development : Chhattisgarh ranks fourth in achieving target under Mission Amrit

For consecutively second year in a row, Chhattisgarh has bagged National Award for achieving targets under Mission Amrit. In a programme organized at Science Building in New Delhi, Union Minister of Urban Development Mr. M Vainkayya Naidu awarded incentive of Rs 25 crore to State Government for this achievement. This amount has been awarded, in addition to the sanction by Government of India for implementation of the projects. Last year, Chhattisgarh was awarded Rs 13 crore as an incentive. It is noteworthy that under Mission Amrit, nine urban development bodies namely Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Bhilai, Rajnandgaon, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur, Raipur and Korba has been included. Under Mission Amrit, basic facilities such as water supply, sewerage management and also garden and green spots are developed in these urban bodies.
Chhattisgarh has secured 91.37% marks in target achievement under Mission Amrit. Apart from the projects in nine cities included under the mission, Government of India has also set targets for reforms every year. Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajashthan, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh have performe better than development states in achieving these targets. Government of India has appreciated the accelerated development works in cities of Chhattisgarh state.
