Nearly 3500 children and citizens formed human chain, pledged for maintaining cleanliness and environment conservation

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh and veteran leader Mr. Amit Shah today morning inaugurated 'Hariyar Mor Raipur' drive in Raipur- the capital city of Chhattisgarh. Under this drive, 25 thousand saplings of Peepal, which supplies oxygen 24x7, will be planted in the city with the help of people. Chief Minister Dr Singh and Mr. Amit Shah inaugurated this drive by planting saplings in Katora Talab area of the capital city. They planted the saplings on the circular path of city's one of the oldest pond Katora Talab. At the inaugural programme venue, nearly 3500 school children and local citizens formed human chain to draw attention of common people towards importance of peepal tree for environment.
On the occasion, State Government's Agriculture and Water Resource Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal, Urban Administration and Development Minister Mr. Amar Agrawal, MP Mr. Ramesh Bais, MP Mr. Ramvichar Netam, MLA Mr. Shrichand Sundrani, and Ex-Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Dharamlal Kaushik and other public representatives were also present. In the programme, Mr. Amit Shah administered pledge of making consistent efforts for maintaining cleanliness and environment conservation to people present in the programme. It is noteworthy that beautification and deepening of this pond is being done at the cost of nearly Rs 4 crore 65 lakh.
On the occasion, Chief Minister said that beautification and deepening work of 27 ponds in capital city Raipur is underway. State Government has set the target of planting nearly eight crore saplings of various species across Chhattisgarh this year during monsoon. Chief Minister called on people to actively participate in conservation of city and state's environment. Mr. Amit Shah administered pledge of making consistent and dedicated efforts for maintaining cleanliness and environment conservation to school children and citizens. He also administered pledge of creating awareness among others, conserving of ancient ponds and doing plantation to people present in the programme.
