GST will boost economic growth: Amar Agrawal

Commercial Tax Minister Mr. Amar Agrawal today said that Goods and Services Tax (GST) is based on principle of One Nation, One Tax and One Bazaar. It will boost the economy of the nation.  The Central Government and State Government at present impose 16 varieties of taxes. The new tax regime will come into effect from 1 July. The new tax structure is being implemented keeping in mind the aspirations and welfare of the citizens at heart. The Gross Domestic Product will increase by 3-4 per cent in the coming years. The Minister was speaking at an Orientation programme after lighting a lamp to mark the inauguration.
The Minister said that apart from economic integration it will lead to strengthening the unity of the nation. The entire process will be easy, transparent, Online and integrated. Sixteen categories of taxes will be replaced by single 'Goods and Services Tax'. Excise Duty, A.E.D, Service Tax, Surcharge and Cess C.V.D., S.A.D. and other Duties are involved.  Director of Central Production Tax Mr. Atul Gupta and Principal Secretary Commercial Taxes Department Mr. Amitabh Jain also spoke. He added that this will be a historic step . Mr. Amitabh Jai said that seminars will be organized at 37 locations to create awareness among the business community and various companies. There was a presentation at the meeting.
